The ladies in my office have been telling me I should write a book. They say people would pay to read the happenings of my life. I haven't quite decided if they are right or not...but I do know that writing it all down makes me feel better!
Since I last blogged a LOT has happened. We will begin with the new job(s). I started working my first new job on July 19. This was after the Angus junior nationals. The first couple of weeks I loved it...but after being there about a month I realized I really hated it. Working in an office from 7:30-5 every day is not what I am cut out to do. I like people and being mobile way too much to sit in between four walls each day. Once I decided that this wasn't the job for me, I started seeking something else to do. I received a phone call from a friend telling me a job at Texas A&M was going to be open. They had interviewed candidates once and decided to open it up again. I had assumed they would hire from the pool that first applied, but was really excited when I found out they had reopened the position. I applied and the next day was contacted for a phone interview. After a series of interviews, visits, and a lot of praying, I was offered the position in mid September and started as the Career Coordinator for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University on October 3....two days before my 23rd birthday.
Sometimes I can't believe how much I have moved over the last 18 months. College Station to Stillwater to Ft. Worth back to College Station. Somehow, I always knew I would end up here. I am thankful for my mother who claims her hobby is moving me. Mom, I will try not to have to move anytime soon!! I can now say without a shadow of a doubt that I do love my job. I get to work with people and agriculture...two of my favorite things. I enjoy working with students and I really enjoy helping people. This last Friday during graduation I had 7 students tell me they had secured a job after meeting with me. This was HUGE for me. I really felt in that moment that I had made an impact and that was really really cool! To know that students listened to what I had to say and that what I had to say helped students made me feel like I had really achieved something in the world.
Being back in College Station has been different, but in a good way. A lot has changed, yet a lot has stayed the same. People who I thought I would rekindle relationships with, I haven't. People who I thought I would never talk to again, I have. There are many constants in my life for who I am thankful...Kari, Amanda, Randa, Heather, Danni, Angel, Molly, Katie Beth...just to name a few. These girls have been through it all with me...and for them I am grateful!
There's a lot of stories to be told that I am going to try to write down over the next few days! Love to all...
